Force of Attraction

Liquid Face

2003

Force of Attraction is a series of artworks about the effects of gravity on the falling body. This series started with the collaborative work Turning Point, where the artist, Paul Litherland, and skydiver Bertrand Cloutier created a freefall performance about communicating in difficult circumstances.

With this new work, the artist lets the wind do the talking, using the face and in some cases, other parts of the body to deliver its message. At two hundred kilometers an hour, the skin, especially middle aged skin, becomes a curious wind formed ouija board, and we are left to ponder the meaning of this new eolien language.

The artist would like to thank Claude Limoges and Bertrand Cloutier for their ongoing support and participation in this work. The skydives are made at Atmosphair, near Québec city, Québec.
